Steinegg - Collepietra
Collepietra is at 830 m above sea level, only 13 Km far from the main
city of the province, but 500 m higher than Bolzano. The municipal
territory of Cornedo extends itself between the Catinaccio and the
Latemar. In the south-west it is bordered by the impressive gorge of the
Ega valley, in the north-east by the Isarco valley and by the Tires
valley, in the south-east it confines with the municipality of Nova
Levante.
The Sciliar massif (2563 m), the Catinaccio (2919 m) and the Latemar
(2842) rise imposingly from east to south forming a natural scenery of
unbelievable beauty.
The small village of Collepietra is decentralized, but not out of the
world. Tourists appreciate its pure air and its incredible peacefulness,
far away from the noisy communication routes. Nevertheless, by car, it
takes a short time to reach Bolzano, Merano, Castelrotto, the Alp of
Siusi, the Costalunga Pass, the lake of Carezza and the Gardena valley.
From Collepietra, in one day, you can have a tour to the Garda lake, go
to the opera in Verona or visit the magical city of Venice on the
lagoon.
